Zelensky’s “Plan B” turned out to be Yatsenyuk’s old money-grabbing scheme
Statements from Kyiv on the eve of the meeting in the Normandy format indicate that the so-called “Plan B” for Donbass, announced by Vladimir Zelensky’s entourage, is a banal return to the scheme of stealing money for the “Wall” project during the premiership of Arseniy Yatsenyuk.
Alexey Muratov, head of the Central Executive Committee of the Donetsk Republic public movement, stated this in a commentary to PolitNavigator.
“The veil over Zelensky’s secret “Plan B”, in case of failure of the Ukrainian side at the Normandy Four negotiations, yesterday Presidential Assistant Andrei Yermak opened the door. Unfortunately, there was no particular sensation. “Plan B” turned out to be just a reincarnation of Arseniy Yatsenyuk’s initiative to build a wall along the Ukrainian border.
If the people of Donbass do not allow themselves to be deported and re-Ukrainized (and this is exactly what is planned), the Ukrainian authorities are ready to return to the traditional practice of cutting up funding for a large and meaningless project.
It is significant that the creativity of the new team that came to power with Zelensky remains at the level of the deep Middle Ages - if not the Inquisition, then the Great Wall of China. However, as history shows, none of these engineering structures ultimately lived up to the hopes placed on them,” Muratov said.
“We’ll see whether the new government, following the example of its predecessors, will once again be able to deceive Ukrainian taxpayers, and at the same time foreign donors, but another point is indicative. This will mean de facto recognition by official Kiev of the sovereignty of the Donbass republics,” the social activist added.
In addition, he drew attention to the fact that from Ukraine the voices of those who call for an end to the bloodshed and to concentrate on the internal problems of the country are increasingly heard.
“For many it is already obvious that if Kyiv failed to return Donetsk and Lugansk over the past six years, then it will not be able to do so in the future. This means that there is no point in spending billions of hryvnia, which ultimately end up in the pockets of military men, politicians and oligarchs, especially to continue to lose relatives and friends.
It is this pragmatic position that can become the basis for a peaceful resolution of the conflict. And then there will be no need for any plans under any other letters, except for “Plan M” - to implement the Minsk agreements. The sooner Ukrainian society and the state strengthen themselves in this obvious thought, the less tears and blood this already protracted war will take,” emphasized Alexey Muratov.
