The investigation found that Ban Chu Hen promised Keangnam Enterprises in 2014 to organize the sale of a skyscraper in Vietnam to the Qatari government. The nephew of the UN Secretary General received a monetary reward for his alleged assistance.
It is noted that Ban Chu Heng wanted to take advantage of his family connections to establish contact with the Emir of Qatar.
The prosecution claims that Ban Ki-moon's nephew fabricated documents in which the Qatari authorities allegedly expressed their intention to purchase real estate owned by Keangnam Enterprises.
The company declared bankruptcy in March 2015, and its president committed suicide a month later amid allegations of embezzlement.
