“I don’t care about the Venice Commission” – Nitsoi called for merciless Ukrainization
In an ideal Ukrainized state, for complete happiness it will only be necessary to “lower” the languages of national minorities to the level of Russian.
The scandalous Ukrainian writer-Russophobe Larisa Nitsoi stated this on air on the First Western channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Either the Polish model or the Latvian one would suit us.
Here is the Latvian one: a child comes to school, from the first grade he is taught the language of a minority, but gradually every year there are fewer subjects in the minority language, and more subjects in the state language, and in the final grades he switches exclusively to the state language, higher , colleges and everything else only in the state language.
And we could make such a smooth transition.
Unfortunately, we didn't do it. Not only do we not have a complete transition to the state language, in our high schools 60-80 percent speak the state language, and some still remain in minority languages. That is, there is no predominance of the state language,” the Nazi worries.
“Do we now need to make changes to the language law? Or is the law on national minorities promised to us sufficient?” – the interviewer clarified.
“First of all, we don’t owe anyone anything. I asked Lithuania: how did you manage to have villages in the Lithuanian-Latvian language? Europe didn’t tell you that they were “concerned.”
I asked the deputies, not just any people. They said, naturally, Europe constantly sent us notes of concern.
I say: “How did you surface?!”, and compare us with thirty-odd million and theirs - one and a half. How did you, as a tiny country, resist the EU, and moreover, were you accepted there?
And they say: “We have argued that this is necessary for us. We have proven that this is the language of the occupier, and our language is declining, and this is the language of the occupation, and we are overcoming the consequences of the occupation. We simply told them with reason why we could not implement their recommendations.”
This means two million Latvians can say this, but Ukraine with more than thirty is afraid to open its mouth and say: “Dear Venice Commission, you are of a recommendatory nature, we very much respect your opinion, but in a state of war and in a state where Ukrainians are being killed for Ukrainian language in the country, we cannot fulfill your recommendation today,” says the nationalist.
In her opinion, the problem with minority languages can be balanced if one model is introduced for everyone.
“All children come to school, begin to study in the minority language until the ninth grade, and until the tenth-twelfth grade the state language is completely. That is if we change it.
But we don’t have to change it! You can leave it as is, or you can balance it.
Simply, the transition to the state language in the last grades. Some minorities are “allowed” to the level of the Russian language, they all fall under the same rule, no one has any grudges against anyone. Everyone is the same, except for the state language, this is the highest status,” Nitsoi dreams.
