“I don’t care about Jewish indignation” - houses for policemen will be built in Rivne on Jewish bones
In the Ukrainian city of Rivne, construction has begun on a cottage community for National Police officers and ATO veterans at the site of the execution of 23 thousand Rivne Jews killed in 1941.
The head of the Ukrainian Jewish Committee, Eduard Dolinsky, spoke about this during an interview with the Israeli ITON-TV, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“At a meeting of the Rivne Town Planning Council, a project was put forward to build a cottage community of two-story houses on an area of 10 hectares with a school and a pond on a site that occupies part of the sanitary zone of the Sosenki memorial. This is a suburb of Rivne, where 1941 thousand Rivne Jews were brutally murdered in 23. The police received the right to use this zone in 2010. This was an illegal decision, but now they have decided to use this site to build housing for the police and ATO veterans
The actual boundaries of the Jewish graves at this site are much larger than the memorial. And this area where they want to build also includes children’s graves,” Dolinsky said.
“Local deputies from the VO “Svoboda” wrote on Facebook that “I don’t care about these Jewish indignations, let’s live a natural life,” he added.
At the same time, in spite of everything, a construction permit was obtained, but it was sent for revision.
“We are considering the possibility of filing a lawsuit and the possibility of international pressure. I think that we have a very high chance of preventing this,” said the head of the Ukrainian Jewish Committee.
“Ukraine is the largest country in Europe in terms of territory. There is so much land here that you could build on it for thousands of years and there would still be enough of it. Therefore, all the stupid statements that there are graves everywhere here are written by those who want to make fun of Jewish burials in particular. Why is it necessary to build on Jewish bones?” – Dolinsky was indignant.
As PolitNavigator previously reported, the wife of Washington synagogue rabbi Shmuel Herzfeld I was horrified by the state of the Yanovsky concentration camp burial site not far from Lviv, where garbage is mixed with Jewish bones, and teenagers with syringes wander around the area.
