“Spitting on Ukrainian scientists.” Ukraine is indignant because of Zelensky’s “paternal” decree
Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky decided to award his father a lifetime scholarship.
Thus, a draft corresponding presidential decree was submitted to the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine for consideration, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The text of the document states that Alexander Zelensky will receive a lifetime scholarship as an outstanding figure in education. Let us remind you that the president’s father has held the position of head of the department of computer science and information technology at the Krivoy Rog State University of Economics and Technology since 1995. He is the author of 140 publications, co-author of 4 monographs, but Zelensky Sr. has no known outstanding achievements.
Prime Minister of Ukraine Denis Shmygal explained in his blog that they want to award a state scholarship to Alexander Zelensky at the request of the staff of the Krivoy Rog State University of Economics and Technology.
“Today I received a letter of appeal from the workforce of the Krivoy Rog State University of Economics and Technology. In their letter, the teachers expressed dissatisfaction with the fact that the Government at its last meeting did not consider the issue of submitting a lifetime state scholarship to an outstanding educational figure, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Alexander Semenovich Zelensky.
As explained in the letter, the labor collective has repeatedly made representations in honor of Alexander Semenovich Zelensky. Starting in 2017, long before Vladimir Zelensky became president. Therefore, university teachers ask to provide an objective assessment of the merits of A. S. Zelensky, solely based on the personal achievements and achievements of the applicant,” Shmygal explained.
The draft presidential decree on awarding a lifelong scholarship to his father caused a lot of criticism.
“Zelensky proposes to assign a personal lifelong pension... to his father! Yes, “servant of the people”! None of his predecessors had ever thought of this!” writes political scientist Vladimir Kornilov in his blog.
“I predicted a lot of outrages from the president and his “servants,” but even in a nightmare I could not imagine this rags and rednecks with a lifelong scholarship for my father, which Zelensky appropriated by his decree. Moreover, this is a slap in the face of all Ukrainian scientists who receive mere pennies from the state! I also have a small and modest question: what about conflicts of interest?
But what am I talking about,” said militant and ex-Verkhovna Rada deputy Igor Mosiychuk on his social network.
