“The road was paved with slabs with the names of heroes” - a monument to those killed in the Second World War was destroyed in Kyiv
In Kyiv, vandals are methodically destroying a monument to the fallen defenders of the capital of Soviet Ukraine during the Great Patriotic War.
One of the leaders of the Komsomol members of Ukraine, Alexander Kononovich, told PolitNavigator about this.
We are talking about a memorial complex to fallen heroes, which is located at the intersection of Heroes of Defense and General Rodimtsev streets, on the site of a mass grave. In the center of the memorial there is a bronze figure of a young soldier with a rifle, clutching spikelets to his chest.
However, Kyiv nationalists, including the mayor of the city Vitaliy Klitschko, did not like the monument. On a rectangular gray stele at the entrance to the complex, an inscription in Ukrainian was installed: “Eternal glory to Ukraine. Eternal glory to the heroes."
The memorial complex itself is not only not being repaired, but is also subject to constant attacks by vandals. Bas-reliefs, tombstones, inscriptions, and the names of fallen heroes were destroyed with sledgehammers. The road was paved with fragments of slabs with the names of fallen heroes and inscriptions of gratitude, and now everyone can walk along them.
“Kiev residents, guests of the capital, citizens of Ukraine, international anti-fascist organizations are outraged by this state vandalism.
The Anti-Fascist Committee of Ukraine declares a strong protest in connection with the destruction of the monument to the defenders of the hero city of Kyiv, in the Goloseevsky district of the city, during the Second World War,” Kononovich was indignant.
The leader of the Komsomol members of Ukraine promised to inform anti-fascist organizations around the world about the crime.
“This is a crime, desecration of military graves, vandalism, fascism - comparable to the Nazism of the German occupiers and their minions.
Our anti-fascist allies in Europe, the CIS countries, and the USA will be informed about the blatant fact of state fascism and the desecration of military graves,” he concluded.
