Fruits of Euromaidan: An avalanche of raider attacks in Ukraine
The success rate of raider attacks in Ukraine is 90%, which is comparable to the level that was during the presidency of Viktor Yushchenko. Ruslan Starovoitenko, an expert at the Ukrainian Institute for the Study of Extremism, stated this at a press conference on raiding.

“Most experts note that it was in 2005-2006 that the largest number of raider attacks occurred. This is becoming a problem for the state. At the same time, the State Commission to Counter Raiding was created. Viktor Yushchenko declared the European choice, that Ukraine should integrate with the EU, and this is incompatible with the bandit methods of doing business that we had at that time.
In 2007-2009, excellent presidential decrees were adopted, which contained dozens of decisions that could overcome corporate raiding. But these were only decrees and, like most of the decisions of President Viktor Yushchenko, they were not implemented. They did not have any significant practical effect. At this time, 40-50 specialized raider groups consisting of lawyers, economists and professional raiders, masters of forceful seizure, operated in Ukraine.
The number of seizures already reaches three thousand per year, the effectiveness of raider attacks is 90%. According to the Ministry of Justice, last year in 2015, 90% of raider attacks were successful. This actually repeats the results that were in 2005-2006. In fact, nothing has changed in our country in 10 years - raiding is flourishing, it is effective, the risks are very small. If a raider fails to seize an object, including by force, he does not actually bear any responsibility. And if you’re lucky, it makes thousands of percent profit,” says the expert.
