Bad news for Kyiv: LDNR will continue its course towards independence
The process of peaceful resolution of the conflict in Donbass may drag on for decades due to the position of the Ukrainian side.
About this site “Current comments” writes the director of the Institute of Peacemaking Initiatives and Conflict Studies Denis Denisov.
In his opinion, the new compositions of the People's Councils of the LPR and DPR will face fundamentally new tasks.
“And here we must admit that while the war is going on, the Donbass republics simply do not have any other alternative other than building full-fledged sovereign states. This is, first of all, the will of the people and a necessity for the normal life of citizens. Whether the President of Ukraine will change or not and how much the composition of the Verkhovna Rada will change - in this regard, these issues are not important, since there are no prerequisites to say that the new rulers of Ukraine will instantly change their attitude towards the DPR and LPR and immediately sit down at the negotiating table with the goal implement the Minsk Agreements,” the expert emphasizes.
“We must come to terms with the fact that the conflict resolution process will last for years, perhaps even decades, since the Ukrainian side, churning out anti-Russian laws on an assembly line scale, has already planted a “time bomb” in the process of normalizing relations,” Denisov concludes.
As PolitNavigator reported, experts note that elections in the DPR are a direct course towards recognition of the republics by Russia Donbass
