According to the data received, 65 percent of respondents are in favor of a compromise through negotiations within the framework of the Minsk agreements, and 21 percent are in favor of a forceful option.
53 percent of respondents were against the ATO, and 33 percent of respondents were in favor.
Founder of Research & Branding Group Evgeny Kopatko told Izvestia that the data obtained is not surprising.
“This is not the first month that we have been recording a trend towards a change in the situation compared to previous years,” the sociologist noted. – I mean the development of the situation in eastern Ukraine. If in 2014 a significant part of respondents supported the use of force to resolve the situation in Donbass, then in July 2016, 65% already supported achieving peace within the framework of the Minsk agreements. The situation has changed seriously. And only a fifth of respondents support the use of force to resolve the issue. The position of Ukrainians regarding support for the ATO has also changed.”
“All this indicates a serious turn in favor of a peaceful solution to the problem,” Kopatko concluded. – The policy regarding the east of the country is not being implemented, and the military option did not work. The authorities have new risks, one of which is the spread of the crisis to other territories of Ukraine.”
