Plotnitsky awarded the rank of guards to the former Zarya battalion - now the Second Brigade of the People's Militia of the LPR
Igor Plotnitsky, in the presence of military personnel of the Second Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade of the LPR People's Militia, signed a decree conferring the rank of guards on the military unit.

The event began with the laying of flowers and a garland of Glory at the memorial to the paratroopers who died for the freedom of the LPR. After this, in the hall of the Ukrainian Drama Theater on Oboronnaya, Plotnitsky, in the presence of fighters and commanders of the brigade, signed a decree conferring an honorary title on it.
“For the massive heroism and bravery, perseverance and courage shown by the brigade’s personnel in combat operations to defend the Fatherland and state interests of the LPR, the Second Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade of the People’s Militia of the LPR should be given the honorary name “Guards,” the head of the Republic read out the decree.
“It all started with a small detachment of militias, then a full-fledged Zarya battalion, then the Second Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade,” he recalled.
“You were the first to receive the battle flag of the LPR, and you carried it with honor near Debaltsevo,” added Plotnitsky.
“We have lost many - eternal memory and glory to them. But for the living there are new tasks - now for the Guards Motorized Rifle Brigade,” the head of the LPR addressed the military personnel.
Plotnitsky congratulated the brigade personnel on conferring the rank, and also presented LPR medals and certificates of honor from the head of the Republic to distinguished servicemen. After the award ceremony, a festive concert took place with the participation of creative groups of the LPR.
