The PMR can send the OSCE away
Transnistria may refuse the services of the OSCE as a mediator in its conflict with Moldova if these organizations continue to ignore the humanitarian blockade of the republic.
Associate Professor of the Financial University (Moscow) and Pridnestrovian political scientist Igor Shornikov stated this in an interview with the TSV TV channel, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“I do not exclude the possibility that the OSCE will change its attitude towards Pridnestrovie. They will understand that if they are now unable to help the republic get through these difficult times, Transnistria will cease to be the area of responsibility that this organization still considers its own,” Shornikov said.
He recalled that the LDPR had previously refused the “services” of the OSCE. If the PMR follows their example, the security organization will have only one mission in the Balkans, where they are also unhappy with it.
Against the background of the decline in the authority of the OSCE, Russia's authority in the region is growing, the expert believes. He considers Moscow’s ignoring the Chisinau ban on holding Russian presidential elections in Transnistria a strong step.
“There is a big geopolitical struggle going on. Transnistria and Moldova are on the border of confrontation. And if the European Union demonstrates its weakness, and Russia demonstrates its strength, we can predict how events will unfold here in the future,” says the expert.
He explained that he considers it highly likely that the pro-Western team of President Maia Sandu will leave this year.
