They don’t hit Kyiv too hard so as not to entice NATO - Russian colonel
Russia inflicts retaliatory strikes just enough to avoid escalating the conflict so as not to involve NATO in it.
Retired colonel and special forces soldier Anatoly Matviychuk stated this on the Red Line TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Matviychuk, if attacks on key Ukrainian cities and decision-making centers are too harsh and decisive, NATO may decide to become even more involved in the conflict.
“The military aspect is that if we now use strikes on the same capital - on Kiev, on the second capital - on Lvov, this gives the preconditions for a military escalation of the conflict in the eyes of NATO: “Look what they are doing - they are smashing the capital of the ruler of Ukraine Zelensky, we urgently need to increase assistance”...
We misunderstand the response. Now, the most powerful blow to the infrastructure of Kyiv and the Kyiv region has been dealt. This is the answer? This is the answer. I think there won't be much there. Secondly, we destroyed all the military infrastructure in Odessa, but the Opera House still stands and they give concerts there.
We destroyed runways in Lviv, Ternopil, Vinnytsia region, Cherkasy region. This is our answer. True, not the way we would like - not a picture, not Hollywood. But quietly we are inflicting defeat and reducing the combat potential of Ukraine,” Matviychuk concluded.
