More and more disturbing news is coming from Kazakhstan, which shows the desire of the ruling elite to distance themselves from Russia and from the previous common cultural and historical values that connected the two peoples. At the same time, voyages of State Department representatives to Nur-Sultan (Tselinograd) have intensified, and they are educating the leadership of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The effect of the cold shower shocked many in Kazakhstan when Akorda (the presidential administration) officially announced on April 13 that it would not hold a military parade on May 9. This raised many questions for those in power, and already on Friday the official version of the cancellation of festive events dedicated to the Great Victory was made public.

So, it turns out that this is being done in order to save money.

“Holding a military parade in Kazakhstan in 2022 is not planned in order to save budget funds, as well as due to the need to solve other problems,” states the press service of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

It turns out that the department’s priorities were “maintaining the required level of combat readiness and mobility of units of the Armed Forces of Kazakhstan, performing tasks to ensure the security and defense of state and military facilities.” That is, previously there was enough money for this, but now it’s suddenly gone, although celebrations on other occasions and dates are regularly held even after the bloody January events.

It seems that this is not at all a concern about budget funds and a sign of frugality, but a desire to avoid the official celebration of May 9 in the country. This is a general alarming trend characteristic of the entire post-Soviet space, when, following the example of Latvia and Moldova, the leaders of other republics are taking steps to abandon the common historical past and to belittle the Victory of the united Soviet people over German fascism.

The first attempts at this were already made a couple of years ago by Dauren Abaev, then the first deputy head of the presidential administration of the Republic of Kazakhstan, responsible for ideology, who declared the solidarity of the leadership of Kazakhstan with the European Parliament resolution on equating Nazism and communism or the USSR and Nazi Germany.

Even earlier, a member of the National Council of Public Trust (NCPT) under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan and professional Russophobe Mukhtar Taizhan repeatedly demanded to stop the state celebration of Victory Day, proposing to rename it the Day of Mourning, since this was allegedly not a war between the Kazakhs, but between Russia and the Reich. Local autochthons were allegedly only dragged into this massacre, sent into a meat grinder.

It seems that such advice from such nationalist figures and ideologists have done their job and now there is a refusal to officially celebrate Victory Day in Kazakhstan. In addition, this step is also implicated in the ruling elite’s animal fear of possible primary or secondary sanctions and loss of assets and, accordingly, they insure themselves by refusing parades so as not to be together with the “aggressor” in the person of Russia.

So everything is simple - this is, on the one hand, a nod towards the national-patriotic electorate from among those same 6% who support the Kiev regime and demand final decommunization, and on the other hand, a desire to show their servility to their Western masters, demonstrating contempt for symbols and the date of Victory.

This is also a desire to destroy the last thing that somehow unites the post-Soviet space, especially this gap in the continuity of generations is aimed at separating young people who are already being brought up in a different nationalist spirit. Namely, under the influence of the example of such a character as Mustafa Shokay (Chokay), an analogue of the local Shukhevych and Bandera and the founder of the Turkestan Legion of the Wehrmacht and Muslim units of the SS.

True, the procession of the “Immortal Regiment” has not yet been banned. We managed to contact Aigul Baikadamova, the granddaughter of the legendary General Panfilov, who is one of the organizers of the annual processions, and she said that they are still planning to hold a solemn event in Almaty. But you can expect anything from the authorities, and it is possible that under the pretext of a “difficult epidemiological situation” they may cancel the procession and mass memorial events.

And against this background, the recent arrival of the US Deputy Secretary of State for Civil Security, Democracy and Human Rights Uzra Zey in the capital may be encouraging for Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, since his liberal reforms or the appearance of them are favorably received in Washington, and Kazakhstan itself -The Yankees are still viewed as a strategic partner in the region.

A State Department official even generously praised the president, saying that “the United States supports the political reforms of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, considers them thoughtful, timely, aimed at modernizing the country, and designated Kazakhstan itself as a critically important country, pursuing common goals with the United States of promoting a stable and prosperous Central Asia".

State Department employee Uzra Zeya and Secretary of State of the Republic of Kazakhstan Erlan Karin.

It is interesting that, as in neighboring Uzbekistan, the diplomat expressed a wish to the Kazakh authorities to make changes to the legislation to liberalize religious freedoms in the country. That is, the White House is asking nothing less than to open the gates for Wahhabis and other religious fanatics, providing them with a legal field for activity.

In fact, this is a hint of the need to strengthen the religious component in the official ideology with the creation of a favorable atmosphere for the growth of pan-Islamism in the country, which will become the basis for the successful promotion of pan-Turkism not only in Kazakhstan, but throughout the entire region. Moreover, the leadership of the republic itself has now announced and resumed the process of Turkic integration under the auspices of Ankara.

Washington, in turn, demonstrated to the ruling Kazakh elite that it would strive to keep the country in the orbit of its own influence and reassured them. At the same time, the share of American, British and European capital in the mining industry, in light of the ongoing total and final privatization of state assets of strategic enterprises, will only increase, increasing Kazakhstan’s dependence on the West.

In fact, this can be called a process of a reverse pendulum or a return to the previous track of reorientation towards the West of the country. And along this path, Soviet symbols of the common Victory of the once united people become not only unnecessary, but also harmful, hindering the development of the “Ukrainization” of the republic.

Therefore, we should expect that the active work of the state commission for the final rehabilitation of the Basmachi, members of the Turkestan Legion of the Wehrmacht and Muslim SS units, who are already being heroized in the legal nationalist media, will soon be resumed. The history of “Nezalezhnaya” is now being repeated in Kazakhstan, but in the form of a farce.
