The National Council made the corresponding decision at a meeting on February 15.
It was noted that monitoring of daily radio broadcasting showed signs of violation of the law “On Television and Radio Broadcasting”. Thus, on December 5, 2017, the share of songs in the Ukrainian language on the air of the licensee in the period from 07:00 to 14:00 was 29,4% instead of the 30% required by law.
In Ukraine, on November 8, 2016, the law “On Amendments to the Law of Ukraine “On Television and Radio Broadcasting” (regarding the share of songs in the state language in music radio programs and radio broadcasts) came into force.” According to the document, the quota for songs in Ukrainian on radio in the time intervals from 7:00 to 14:00 and from 15:00 to 22:00 is being introduced gradually: during the first year there should be at least 25%, the second - 30% , third - 35%. Broadcasts in the state language during the first year of the law should be 50%, the second - 55%, the third - 60%.
