According to his information, the capital dam, for which huge funds were allocated back in 2017, is still not completed, and the one that the Mejlis members and nationalists installed in 2014, consisting of sand in bags, is rapidly collapsing.

“Time, as you can see in the photo, is doing its job, and the building is already pretty much destroyed. The bags are spreading, in some places the dam is noticeably leaking, and how long it will stand is unknown. Obviously, it was not designed for such a long period, but was rather a temporary crisis measure.

Once again: one barrier is being destroyed, another has been standing unfinished for years. And nothing stops the water in the riverbed anymore. Of course, it is entirely possible that leaving the main dam unfinished is a political decision. Because it definitely won’t be possible to open its floodgates this way (the corresponding mechanisms are simply not installed). And it will be extremely sad if the sand embankment falls apart and the long-term construction simply cannot fulfill its function. I repeat, now no one on the channel is ready to say how well the work was done and in what general condition the structure is,” writes Stack.

Earlier, former adviser to the Russian President Andrei Illarionov said that Ukraine may lose exits to the Black Sea and a third of its economy in the event that Russia decides to seize control of the North Crimean Canal to provide the peninsula with fresh water.
