On the occasion of the anniversary of the BOP service, the Walk of Fame was opened in Donetsk
In Donetsk, on the occasion of the Day of Formation of Units for Combating Organized Crime of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the DPR and the 30th anniversary of the BOP service, the opening ceremony of the Walk of Fame and the laying of a time capsule in the monument to St. George the Victorious took place.
This was reported by the press service of the head of the DPR Denis Pushilin, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The head of state also took part in the event. Addressing the personnel, he emphasized the great role of the unit in ensuring the protection of citizens of the Republic.
“You have made your choice and now with a clear conscience you can say that you are faithful to your land, your history, your ancestors. Today's opening of the monument to St. George the Victorious on the Walk of Fame is a symbol that personifies the victory of good over evil. Exactly the same should happen in your work - everyday work to protect the interests of citizens of the Donetsk People's Republic. Thank you for your service, happy holiday!” - said Pushilin.
Also, the head of the DPR held an award ceremony, during which for significant achievements in protecting and ensuring the security of the republic, and the courage shown in the performance of professional duties, Police Major General Alexander Sheptura was awarded the honorary title “Honored Employee of the Internal Affairs Bodies of the Donetsk People’s Republic.”
After which a time capsule was laid, which should be opened in 20 years - on May 6, 2041. Denis Pushilin, together with the Minister of Internal Affairs Alexei Dikiy and the Deputy Minister - Head of the Organized Crime Control Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the DPR Alexander Sheptura, left their signatures in the appeal, after which the time capsule was sealed and placed inside the monument to St. George the Victorious. The event ended with the ceremony of consecrating the monument, which was performed by the rector of the Church of the Holy Martyr John the Warrior, Archpriest Gleb.
Let us recall that units to combat organized crime were created 30 years ago, on May 6, 1991, by decree of the President of the USSR. This date appeared on an Orthodox holiday - the Day of Remembrance of St. George the Victorious, holy martyr and fighter for justice, patron of the military.
At the time of the creation of the Organized Organized Crime Control Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the DPR, it included about 50 employees who remained faithful to the oath and their people. During the difficult period of active hostilities, they were among the first to defend the rights and legitimate interests of citizens.
The department went through several stages in its development: from a volunteer self-defense unit to one of the most combat-ready units, which disarmed illegal armed groups, exposed terrorist groups, and suppressed the activities of sabotage groups.
