At the request of the EU, Poland throws 5 thousand miners onto the streets

“The mining industry restructuring program involves the closure of several mines and a reduction in employment in the industry. The restructuring will require about 2 billion zlotys,” writes the Polish portal.
It is expected that between 4 and 5 thousand miners will lose their jobs. Industrial restructuring is caused by pressure from the EU under the pretext of the so-called climate policy of the European Union. This policy involves reducing coal production and closing thermal power plants operating on them.
“At the same time,” says Kazimir Grajcarek, chairman of the secretariat of mining and energy of the Solidarity trade union, “the reduction of one position in the mining industry will lead to the reduction of three more in related industries.”
Polish miners have already carried out a number of strikes, but, apparently, they were not crowned with success.
