400 thousand unaccounted weapons from the ATO zone are “walking” across Ukraine
Deputy Prosecutor General - Chief Military Prosecutor Anatoly Matios said that about 400 thousand units of unaccounted weapons are “walking” in Ukraine, which, according to him, were imported from the combat zone in Donbass, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
He wrote about this in a blog on the UNN website.
“In our country over the last 4 years there have been more than 40 thousand prosecutions for illegal arms trafficking. I do not know and doubt that so many weapons remain in circulation since World War II. Where did these 40 thousand machine guns, pistols, cartridges, grenades, grenade launchers come from? This is just what law enforcement discovered. And usually statistics reflect only 10% of the weapons that are “walking” in the state. So we have 400 thousand unaccounted for weapons “walking” outside the law. I am convinced that this is a weapon with ATO,” said Matios.
He noted that in 2014-2015 there were heavy battles, and there are reports of the loss of weapons in combat conditions.
“There are so many losses, so many weapons damaged. No one takes a photo of a damaged machine gun and attaches it to these reports. Everyone who traveled or helped in the ATO zone brought back, in addition to post-traumatic disorder, some kind of trophy - some cartridges, some grenade launchers. I am not kidding. And all this “walks” in peaceful life,” Matios noted.
