The Vasili beach in Balaklava, beloved by Sevastopol residents, may die in a landslide. Journalist Vladimir Illarionov wrote about this on Facebook.

“Vasili Beach in Balaklava is in danger of an imminent rock collapse. The mine management discharges water through a broken pipe onto the terrain. But in the photo the crack is visible from the lower right corner and upward to the left. There are 70 meters along the front. Below is the beach. The crack is growing,” Illarionov wrote.
We are talking about the Balaklava mine, whose quarries are located not far from Vasily. The company has been promising for many years to stop the extraction of fluxes and reclaim the quarries.
Thus, in 2012, the mine management presented a project to create a “European resort” “Balaklava Green” in the quarries. This project, unexpectedly for many, was presented at a recent investment forum in Sochi. True, so far we are talking about only one quarry - on Mount Tavros, which is located directly above Balaklava Bay. However, initially Balaklava Green was supposed to be built on several sites, one of which included Vasili Beach.
