There was no agreement on the elections in Donbass in Paris: Another attempt in 4 months
Another meeting in the Normandy format will take place in 4 months; before that time, experts will prepare documents for holding elections in Donbass that would be recognized by the OSCE.
German Chancellor Angela Merkel announced this at a briefing following the negotiations. She added that the OSCE mission in Donbass should switch to a 12-hour monitoring format instead of a XNUMX-hour working day.
“And by March 2020, three more disengagement zones need to be created - this is near Stanitsa Luganskaya, Zolotoye and Petrivske,” Merkel said.
“We need to instruct foreign ministers, as well as advisers, to agree on both the political and security conditions in order to complete all the preconditions for holding elections in four months. It seems to me that this will lay the foundation of trust, and we will be able to move towards a settlement,” said French President Emmanuel Macron.
