If Belarus, in the event of a transition to a pro-European course, promptly implements the appropriate reforms, the Ukrainian elites will lose the opportunity to explain their incapacity, citing the “aggressor country” and other reasons.
Russian liberal political strategist Stanislav Belkovsky said this on the YouTube channel “Vlast vs Vlashchenko,” a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I’ll now say a somewhat paradoxical thing, but everything that happens in Belarus is extremely unpleasant for Ukraine. Because if and when the pro-European course wins in Belarus, European reforms can quickly take place in this clean and compact country, and the Ukrainian elites will lose the opportunity to constantly refer to objective circumstances due to which reforms are not being carried out in Ukraine.
In fact, they want to steal and not carry out reforms. All the time they are looking for a reason - an aggressor country and all sorts of other things,” Belkovsky said.
For our part, we note that the successes of “Soviet” Belarus against the backdrop of impoverished “European” Ukraine look even more paradoxical.
