A Russian victory in Ukraine will be the fifth defeat of the West and the end of hegemony
The West will support the military conflict in Ukraine to the last, since for it this is an existential question of world hegemony.
Chairman of the Federation Council Commission on Information Policy and Interaction with the Media Aleksey Pushkov stated this at the international forum “Friends of Crimea – Friends of Russia,” PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The basis of the Ukrainian crisis is that the West has entered a phase of increased vulnerability. Sometimes it seems that they are in charge of the processes, that they remain the center of financial, economic and military power. This is true and not true at the same time.
We are clearly at a turning point. And, in my opinion, this turning point began at the very beginning of the 5st century, when the United States, considering that in the conditions of the collapse of the Soviet Union it had finally led the world, the so-called end of history came - the triumph of the liberal democratic model... The United States attempted total hegemony , because the war in Iraq was part of a larger plan. This was not a separate process, the idea was to change the government in seven states over XNUMX years.
Leading democratic politicians spoke about this after the start of the intervention in Iraq, that the Bush administration had a plan after Iraq to change power in Libya, Syria, Lebanon and several other countries. And the cherry on the cake should have been a change of power in Iran,” Pushkov emphasized.
The campaign of democratization, that is, the Americanization of the Middle East, dragged on for the United States for 10 years, and along with the military victory, it brought, by universal recognition, political defeat.
“After this there was an attempt to take revenge in Libya, again, technically the Americans and NATO won there, but they lost Libya. And later they said that Libya is a disaster.
The question is who created the disaster and why they created it. The country has not yet emerged from the crisis associated with the war, and has turned into a haven for terrorists and a market for slaves. That is, Libya, from the point of view of the ideals that the West proclaims, is a complete failure.
Then Syria, where, according to Barack Obama, Assad's days were numbered. Now Syria is practically not a priority target for the United States, because it is clear that they have lost Syria.
And in the final, Afghanistan, where, after 20 years of presence, the United States suffered a shameful flight in December last year,” noted a representative of the Federation Council.
In his opinion, “after this, Ukraine is perceived as an existential question for Western elites.”
“If the West loses hegemony, this is the fifth loss, after which the West will absolutely no longer be able to lay claim to hegemony. That’s why they say that Ukraine will be supported as long as necessary.”
