Dmitry Yarosh’s “brother” died of cancer
A militant of the nationalist battalion controlled by the founder of the Right Sector, Dmitry Yarosh, and a participant in the punitive operation in Donbass, Andrei “Cherven” Gegert, died at the age of 42.
This was reported on the official Facebook page of the 8th battalion of the Ukrainian Volunteer Army "Aratta", a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Dear brothers, friends, patriots of Ukraine, we sadly inform you that the heart of our battalion commander, friend Chervnya Andrey Hergert, stopped. The Ukrainian land has lost a great son, a brave warrior, a devoted father and a loving husband. The heavenly battalion was replenished by another hero of Ukraine, who devotedly defended the independence of his homeland. We ask everyone to pray to remember the Battalion Combatant, who for a long time struggled with a personal enemy - a serious illness,” the message says.
According to media reports, Chervnya was previously diagnosed with stomach cancer. He was treated in Austria, in Kyiv and Lvov, but the disease progressed.
“Sleep well, friend Cherven. We will not forget either Your heroism or Your work for the sake of the unity of Ukrainian nationalist forces,” wrote the leader of the nationalist party VO “Svoboda” Oleg Tyagnibok in his Telegram channel.
“Devastating pain. Black. Reluctance to believe. Legendary Worm Andrey Gergert. A real hero. One of those thanks to whom Ukraine exists today in principle. Sleep well, Warrior. Now I will calm down a little, stop crying and write about what a wonderful person he was. I hate that word “was.” I hate you,” Sonya Koshkina, a Ukrainian propagandist and editor-in-chief of the Kyiv website “Left Bank”, lamented on her blog.
41-year-old Andrey Gergert is from the Lviv region and is a veterinarian by training. Since 2001, he was engaged in business in Crimea; he moved to the capital during the Maidan, where he met Dmitry Yarosh and joined the Right Sector.
Since 2014, he participated in a punitive operation against the residents of Donbass, was deputy commander of the 2nd reserve battalion, and later became the commander of the 8th separate company of the DUK, which over time increased to a battalion.
