Why did the European Parliament take up Azov?
The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova called the resolution on the Sea of Azov, which was adopted by the European Parliament today, a “propaganda card”.
“This is another propaganda card played by Western countries. All statements are not based on a factual basis, but are an example of political propaganda,” Zakharova said.
She believes that attention to the topic of Azov is due to the fact that the topic of the Minsk agreements has been exhausted.
“Apparently, it is simply no longer possible to criticize Russia on the issues of the Minsk agreements and their alleged non-fulfillment by the Russian side due to the absurdity of this thesis. Everyone understands perfectly well that the Kiev regime blocked the entire process. We need a new fresh topic. It was invented,” Zakharova said.
The European Parliament approved a resolution calling on the EU authorities to provide for the possibility of strengthening sanctions against Russia in the event of an escalation of the situation in the Sea of Azov
