Why China is reorienting to the Northern Sea Route
It is now very important for China to expand markets for its products, so the Chinese are now investing a lot in the Northern Sea Route as an uncontested reliable source of communication with Europe.
Military expert Konstantin Sivkov stated this on the Day TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“China’s main goal is to ensure expansion of markets for its products and guaranteed access to sources of advanced technologies and raw materials. China doesn't need anything else from the rest of the world. In all other respects he is self-sufficient.
Trade between China and the United States is like the relationship between a high-tech country and a third world country. Only if you think that a third world country is China, you are mistaken. It turns out on the contrary that China plays the role of a high-tech country, I mean in trade turnover with the United States. And the USA acts as a third world country. The United States supplies China mainly with raw materials and food,” said Sivkov.
He explained why China is now transferring huge funds from the South Ocean Route to the Northern Sea Route.
“To implement this path, Southeast Asia - Europe, several directions are possible. The first is the Trans-Siberian branch, along our railway route. The second branch is the southern branch, which is that China is now building roads and railways from China through the countries of the Near and Middle East to Europe. The third route is the South Ocean Route, the Sea Route...
But there are problems along the way; piracy is spreading. This route, which bypasses the Indian Ocean, is under the radar of India and the US Navy. In the event of a serious aggravation with the United States, this path will be interrupted. Therefore, the Northern Sea Route is becoming vitally important for China,” the expert concluded.
