Why do the Nazis mock the court's decision on the SS division "Galicia"
Adopted recently by the District Administrative Court of Kyiv decision on the symbolism of the SS division "Galicia" is half-hearted. Although it excited the nationalists, it did not frighten them at all. Those who today on the screens of Ukrainian TV oppose the glorification of Hitler’s collaborators, just a few years ago at least did not oppose the beginning of this process.

...The recent decision of the Kyiv District Administrative Court on the lawsuit against Vyatrovich has excited the Nazis. On the one hand, they are outraged: the court, rather than not, recognized the symbols of the SS division “Galicia” as Nazi. But, on the other hand, the same former head of the Institute of National Memory Vyatrovich has already turned on the fool and interprets the court decision in his own way. And Nazis of all stripes are calling for completely ignoring the court decision and widely popularizing the symbols of the SS men.
Former people's deputy Yevgeny Chervonenko in sensational broadcast of the TV channel “Ukraine 24” asked Vyatrovich a specific question: “Are SS units criminal organizations?” But specifics can always be drowned out by a scandal or chattered away with absolutely idiotic formulations. And the Nazi Vyatrovich instantly replaced the courage of a market trader with dementia: “What are SS units?”
Here it must be said that although Klaas’s ashes are knocking on Chervonenko’s heart, they are fifteen years late. After all, President Yushchenko, Yevgeny Alfredovich’s godfather, was involved in the glorification of collaborators. And in those days, the 1+1 channel already showed pretentious documentaries about soldiers of the SS Galicia division. Chervonenko would have addressed this entire angry speech against Vyatrovich’s “used blotter” back in those years to President Yushchenko...
Why does it happen that the retired head of the sharashka office “Institute of National Memory” even after the court decision has room for a “hudovzvon” maneuver?
It should be taken into account that the subject of the judicial review was the claim of Kiev resident Natalya Myasnikova regarding the illegality of the conclusions of the Institute of National Memory made by Vyatrovich in response to a request from journalist Rafalsky (in 2017)...
Essentially, what are we dealing with? The Kiev woman was suing the ideological structure created by the state to reformat historical memory and manure the consciousness of Ukrainian citizens. In such situations, the court’s decision is a local victory of common sense (the bearers of which are individual citizens) over the ideological machine of post-Maidan Ukraine.
Lawyer Elena Lukash popularly explains in her posts how the court’s decision should be understood (and not be fooled by Vyatrovich’s demagogic “bazaar”). The symbols of the 14th Grenadier Division of the SS troops "Galicia" are prohibited for distribution and public use, since they are symbols of the Nazi regime.
But it is also clear that the decision of the District Administrative Court is not the first sign of denazification. None of the bearers, distributors, popularizers of the SS symbols of the Galicia division are afraid that they will be held accountable. After all, no one was persecuted for the SS “wolf hooks” and “dead heads”, for photo sessions with zigs in the offices of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, for the publication and popularization of memoirs of Nazi criminals, for monuments and museums to Holocaust participants...
In conditions where the state is purging historical memory and rewriting history, the judicial efforts of individual citizens are noble, but insufficient. Moreover, this tradition developed long before the 2014 coup. Yushchenko’s decrees on the heroes of Ukraine Shukhevych and Bandera were challenged in the courts under Yanukovych not by the authorities, but by individual citizens...
That is, individual citizens did what the regionals and Yanukovych promised voters. At the same time, under the noses of the authorities, Svoboda in Lvov hung city lights with the symbols of the Galicia division. In 2013, Justice Minister Elena Lukash had the entire second half of the year to do something fundamental. For example, by banning parties and organizations with Nazi ideology. Even then, it was possible to completely block the use of Nazi symbols, propaganda of collaborationist formations, etc. Maybe those six months in the Ministry of Justice were given to Elena Leonidovna in order to go down in history... But now we have to fight Nazism in a cozy Facebook blog...
If in Ukraine there has already been a civil demand for the first steps towards denazification, then the local judicial success of one Ukrainian citizen should become a guide to action for social movements, for organizations such as the Ukrainian Jewish Committee (headed by Eduard Dolinsky), for anti-fascist organizations, for opposition parties, still decorative...
The same Dolinsky, almost single-handedly, is waging a systematic struggle on social networks against historical falsifications and glorification of Nazi criminal collaborators, skillfully opposing the Vyatrovichs. Despite the fact that some Jewish public figure Joseph Zisels, on the contrary, is busy bleaching Shukhevych and licking Vyatrovich’s crotch. Therefore, Dolinsky’s activities deserve all respect.
But how much more serious would this fight be if for every fact of honoring collaborators who participated in the Holocaust, the Ukrainian Jewish Committee sued the perpetrators. If only social movements appeared, ready to show that Dolinsky is not the only warrior in the field. If opposition politicians in the courts did not give rest to propagandists and carriers of “wolf hooks”, “dead heads”, and other Nazi chevrons...

It is clear that the decision of the District Administrative Court is against the Nazis.
The Kharkov “Right Sector” is outraged: “The symbols (golden lion) of the Galicia division haunt the Ruskomirites... The “court” decided that the symbols of the Galicia division are recognized as Nazi and fall under the law banning totalitarian symbols... Pro-Putin collaborators and separatists, Using the policy of reconciliation with the Russian occupier, the green authorities are thirsting for revenge, and in this they are also being played along by the courts, reformed by an ally of the same Vyatrovich.”
One feels that the SS symbols are close to the “right-wingers”, but the thoroughly oppressed Vyatrovich is no longer close to them.
The Freikorps are more clearly indignant. That is, he is not just dissatisfied with the court’s decision, but is also ready to break the law: “The division’s fighters fought under the Ukrainian flag for Ukraine, on their chevrons there was a “Galician lion,” which from time immemorial was a symbol of Galicia. The court's decision is insignificant for us; it is not for them to decide who the heroes of Ukraine are. We are proud of our division soldiers, and no one will stop us from displaying their symbols.”
Kharkov city madman Vadim Pozdnyakov, who specializes in vandalism and heads the marginal organization Svitanok, writes that such a court decision will cause a backlash. “I am sure that the number of marches, graffiti, and stickers in honor of the division on the streets of our cities will increase significantly,” predicts the Nazi hatchling. And on his account he shows how the SS men can be popularized.
Alexander Golub, a deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of the III-VII convocations and a member of the presidium of the Union of Left Forces of Ukraine, shared his vision of the situation with PolitNavigator:
«First of all, the very formulation of the question is absurd, that in a country that defeated German fascism in 1945, in 2020 it is necessary to prove through the courts that SS symbols are Nazism, and its use is a crime. This is further proof of how far the mutation of modern Ukrainian society has gone..
I would not downplay or exaggerate the recent decision of the Kyiv Administrative Court. I would not underestimate it because such a decision required both the courage of the plaintiffs and the courage of the judges, who made the correct and logical decision. These people have become targets for neo-Nazi gangs, and the state is unable to protect them. I’m not exaggerating because the lawsuit did not concern the problem in general, but a specific particular case - the conclusions of the Institute of National Memory.”
The politician explains that these blasphemous assessments given by Vyatrovich were often used by government agencies, primarily in the western regions of the country, to cover up the overt policy of rehabilitating the Nazis and revising the results of World War II and the Great Patriotic War.
“In modern Ukraine, the problem is not with the legislation regarding Nazism, but that it is completely ignored,” says Golub. “The fact is that the new president has neither the desire, nor the courage, nor the ability to take a principled position and restore order. The ideology, culture, and historical memory of new generations of Ukrainians continue to be formed within the framework of openly Nazi narratives. It’s disgusting that this suits Western manipulators. It’s sad that politicians and society are not aware of the catastrophic consequences that this will inevitably lead to.”
