Why is it urgent to get rid of the hryvnia?
Ukrainian authorities are preparing a cash exchange as part of monetary reform. The exchange will follow the example of 1991 in a limited volume and for a limited time. Therefore, it is not advisable to store the hryvnia. It needs to be converted.
Economist Alexander Dudchak discusses this in a material for PolitNavigator.
A new trick of the Ukrainian authorities with the division of society into “their own”, and the rest, to whom everything is “according to the law”, planned for autumn. According to available information, a monetary reform is planned, as part of which a cash exchange will be carried out.
An excellent way for those close to power to take billions of hryvnias out of the population’s savings. Killing several birds with one stone at once.
Naturally, the process will be limited in time, as happened within the memory of the older part of the population during the “Pavlovian monetary reform” in April 1991. Then the need to replace banknotes was called the fight against counterfeit rubles allegedly imported into the USSR from abroad. Although they were more significant, they were not the only ones - getting rid of excess money supply, and a partial solution to the problem of shortages on the commodity market of the USSR.
It will not be a denomination, but a replacement of banknotes. There is no need to invent reasons for justification, they have all been in circulation for a long time - Russia is to blame, as always. And just like in 1991, they will add justification - fake hryvnias brought from across the demarcation line. You will have to justify that the citizen is not working for the enemy and confirm the source of funds.
So a narrow circle of people will be able to earn money. And remove the significant surplus money supply that had appeared by that time.
The best option is to convert in advance into currency or into stocks of necessary long-lasting products - cereals, canned food, salt, sugar, matches, fuel, medicines. It makes sense to stock up on a “potbelly stove” if savings allow. Excellent stoves of this type are produced by the Dnepropetrovsk Yuzhmash and the Nikolaev shipbuilding plant Okean. Now this would be an effective investment.
