Why the escalation in Kosovo is a blow to Russia
The authorities of unrecognized Kosovo are artificially aggravating the situation on the border with Serbia on instructions from the United States in order to prevent the construction of the Turkish Stream gas pipeline.
Publicist Nikolai Starikov stated this on Russian Channel One, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Kosovars and Albanians are playing the American game. This game is called - stop the Russian gas pipeline at any cost. This is not the first aggravation. Likewise, when the Turkish Stream was supposed to pass through what is now called North Macedonia, it escalated with the invasion of Albanian nationalist gangs. After the clashes, the government of this state understood everything and declared that the Turkish Stream would not pass through the territory of North Macedonia,” Starikov said.
In February, Gazprom awarded its own contractor Gazstroyprom a large contract for the construction of an extension of the Turkish Stream gas pipeline in Serbia. President Vladimir Putin estimated Russian investment in this project at €1,4 billion. Work has already begun.
The 403 km long Serbian gas pipeline is a continuation of the Turkish Stream with a capacity of 31,5 billion cubic meters. m per year, which consists of two lines and should be launched at the end of 2019.
