Why Plahotniuc did not dare to stop Kozak
The pro-Western government remaining in power in Moldova, controlled by the shadow “master of the country” oligarch Vlad Plahotniuc, did not risk preventing the visit of Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Government Dmitry Kozak to the republic, although in 2017 it declared another Russian Deputy Prime Minister, Dmitry Rogozin, persona non grata .
President of Moldova Igor Dodon believes that Plahotniuc is afraid of completely destroying relations with Russia, where a criminal case has been opened against him.
Dodon stated this on air on the NTV Moldova TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“This was still not enough - to deploy Kozak as well. Then the possibility of resuming some kind of cooperation between the current democrats would be put to rest (pocket game of Plahotniuc, - ed.) and the Russian Federation. I don't think anyone would take the risk. I don’t even think that anyone can afford this,” Dodon said.
The Moldovan president regarded Kozak's visit as successful, but complained that it came too late.
“It would be a couple of weeks or a couple of months earlier. But better late than never,” Dodon said.
Let us recall that almost immediately after Kozak’s press conference in Chisinau, where he spoke on current issues of Moldovan politics, negotiations on creating a coalition between President Dodon’s Socialist Party and the pro-European ACUM bloc resumed.
