Why Russia needs to buy ammunition from Iran and North Korea
The Russian defense industry will only be fully operational by the summer of next year, but for now the shortage of ammunition is significantly constraining the actions of the Russian Armed Forces.
Ex-deputy of the Verkhovna Rada, first speaker of the parliament of Novorossiya Oleg Tsarev spoke about this on the channel “SR “ZA Pravda””, the correspondent of “PolitNavigator” reports.
“By the beginning of the summer of 2023, our defense industry will be operational and saturation will begin. I have numbers, I have no right to name them, where, what types of weapons, what plans in relation to last year, how many times they will be increased. But believe me, these numbers are quite significant.
Some productions have to be launched from scratch, some productions have not been produced in our country since Soviet times. This is by type of ammunition. It was believed that We have so much in our warehouses that we don’t need to produce. Therefore, for some industries, supplies will not be fast,” the politician stated.
He was skeptical about information in the US media about ammunition purchases from North Korea.
“I am pleased with the reports from the Americans that we are supposedly buying ammunition from North Korea. This is a very correct decision, if this is the case. They describe what is coming from the North African countries in transit. It is not clear why it is so difficult, although we have a land border. North Korea has Soviet calibers, Soviet standards, one of the best artillery in the world. Artillery is the queen of the fields, not infantry, now in a protracted war. And this is very true: what we don’t have, we need to buy from Iran, from Korea,” Tsarev said.
