Why Russia does not recognize the LDPR within its current borders
Russia should not recognize the LDPR within its current borders. Writer Zakhar Prilepin stated this on the Russian TV channel TVC.
“Russia’s recognition of that part of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions that we control will represent a rejection of some parts of today’s Ukraine, which are looking forward to the power there also changing. We are talking about at least the remaining part of the Donetsk and Lugansk regions,” Prilepin said.
He recalled that the referendum in 2014 was held throughout the Donetsk and Lugansk regions, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We are not going to expand, but we are responsible for the entire territory. Otherwise, it would be a betrayal of citizens who would also make their choice. In Slavyansk and Kramatorsk, 99% of the population responded positively. We are for democracy. If people make a choice in referendums, then so be it,” Prilepin said.
