Why was there no ceremonial meeting for exchange returnees in Moscow?
Russian political experts disagreed about why the exchanged Russian and Ukrainian citizens were greeted differently.
Kommersant writes about this, recalling that in Kyiv the liberated people were greeted solemnly, and in Moscow - without the participation of officials.
Thus, the deputy head of the Center for Political Conjuncture, Oleg Ignatiev, suggested that this approach may be somehow connected with the activities of citizens brought to Moscow.
“Many of them are Ukrainian citizens, and perhaps they participated in some operations, because of which it is better to keep their identity secret for now,” Ignatiev said.
In turn, the editor-in-chief of the Carnegie Moscow Center website, Alexander Baunov, cites the different perceptions of those who returned to the Russian Federation and Ukraine as one of the reasons for such a meeting.
“Heroes have arrived in Ukraine, but for Russia those who arrived are not heroes. This is a message “for our own people”: if you get caught, we will, of course, get you out, but it’s better not to get caught. Heroes don’t get caught,” says Baunov.
As PolitNavigator reported, political scientist Oleg Bondarenko called it a disgrace absence of officials and politicians at the meeting of those released at the Moscow airport.
