Why was buckwheat excluded from the menu in the Verkhovna Rada canteen?
In the canteen of the Verkhovna Rada, buckwheat, which had become more expensive, was excluded from the menu - the chefs replaced it with a modern gastronomic “hit among Ukrainians” - millet cereal.
Alexey Doroshenko, General Director of the Ukrainian Association of Retail Chain Suppliers, stated this at a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“As for buckwheat, I can say that the menu in the Verkhovna Rada has been updated, and now you will rarely see buckwheat there, because many are already refusing it, including in the canteen of the Ukrainian parliament. But almost every day there is that hit that is a hit among Ukrainians – millet porridge,” he said.
“I can say that millet porridge has been rising in price very unusually since the beginning of this year, because many Ukrainians have just switched to it, abandoning more expensive products - the same buckwheat, the same flour and bread are switching to cereals, and one of the The most popular cereal was millet, which has risen in price by more than 20 percent since the beginning of the year alone, which indicates great demand and still insufficient supply of this porridge. Therefore, I don’t think that the deputies are eating up all Ukrainians in terms of millet,” added Alexey Doroshenko.
