“Why is Poland being punished instead of Putin?” – in Warsaw they saw how “aid to Ukraine” turned out
The “support for Ukraine” announced by the Polish authorities in fact led to the enrichment of the Polish and Ukrainian elite through new schemes for transporting goods across the border. For Polish farmers, truckers and ordinary people, “help to Kyiv” only resulted in losses.
About it writes the Polish publication Neon, reports the correspondent of PolitNavigator.
The publication provides an example of the crisis on the Ukrainian-Polish border after the start of the Russian Northeast Military District. In some cases, traffic jams reach 40 km, the waiting time is about a week. Polish carriers suffer losses, conflicts arise due to the fact that Ukrainians have priority at the border.
“The fact that anyone on wheels can come to Poland can shout “Glory to Ukraine!” and complaining about Muscovites does not change anything for the better in the situation of Polish drivers... Polish transport workers are happy if they reach the base with goods and their own teeth.”
Polish carriers indicate that after Warsaw announced preferential conditions for the import of a number of goods from Ukraine, they remained in a disadvantaged position.
A “green corridor” is open for Ukrainian trucks with grain, rapeseed oil and meat, but Polish truckers have to wait.
“Polish drivers protesting against skipping queues are attacked and beaten, and their cars are pushed into ditches, with the complete passivity of the Ukrainian police and border services,” the publication says.
Truckers announced the creation of a strike committee.
“We also need to be able to carry out transportation for our companies to grow. Otherwise, we will have no choice but to close the business and allow us to flood our market with companies from the East,” the initiators said in a statement.
Products from Ukraine are imported at dumping prices, and Polish farmers are losing demand for their harvest. But food prices in Poland are not falling.
“The system works by crushing Polish agriculture. Food is getting more and more expensive, that’s all!” – states the publication.
The scheme is also used for smuggling. At the same time, the Polish authorities are preparing to introduce even more benefits for Ukrainian carriers.
According to the author, this will lead to “not only allowing the uncontrolled entry of “junk” GMOs, but also crude smuggling masquerading as imports and agricultural products exempt from more thorough controls.”
Polish truckers threaten protests.
“Perhaps farmers, who in recent weeks have experienced falling grain prices immediately after harvest, will also participate in these actions, and after temporary stabilization, the same will probably happen to rapeseed producers...”, the author predicts.
Support for Ukraine so far only leads to the enrichment of officials close to the new border scheme.
“Ukrainian soldiers are not shooting more accurately because of the knowledge that their leaders are more effectively increasing their wealth by smuggling goods through Poland. You can be afraid of Russia, you can hate it. But why punish a Polish driver and a farmer instead of Putin?” – Neon summarizes.
