Why the November 2 elections in Donbass are extremely important

The upcoming elections in the DPR and LPR on November 2 will become important milestones in the history of the new state entities. The population of the young republics, which have shown themselves to be a united and monolithic collective in defending the independence of their territories, must decide on leaders. The people of Donbass must carry out the procedure of legitimizing their leaders who are worthy of ruling the republics. The elections will confirm the right of Donetsk and Lugansk residents to self-determination.

The political favorites of Donetsk and Luhansk residents today are very worthy and somewhat similar. If Alexander Zakharchenko and Igor Plotnitsky personify the working class, then Alexander Kofman and Oleg Akimov are attractive to young people and the office public. An exemplary family man and father of three sons, Zakharchenko has recently become the dream of many women in the post-Soviet space. Unmarried girls were tired of the images of spineless hipster men imposed by gloss, and paid attention to the fearless and courageous chairman of the Council of Ministers of the DPR. Donetsk banker Kofman speaks in public more often than Zakharchenko, and in his messages he addresses thoughtful voters. Igor Plotnitsky is one of those who have long been called strong business executives in the press. He has both business experience and work experience in the public service. A sports functionary with a pedagogical education, Oleg Akimov is still young, but has already proven himself to be the best. It would be true if Zakharchenko and Plotnitsky, if they win the elections, take Kofman and Akimov, respectively, as their deputies. In these tandems, each will successfully complement each other. Experience and youth. The voice of factory workers and white collar tribunes.

In the parliamentary elections held on October 26, Kiev residents gave their votes to outright thugs leading punitive battalions. At the same time, Donetsk and Lugansk residents will probably vote for those who today successfully implement popular theses about the need for immediate de-oligarchization. The people of Kiev and Donetsk are moving further and further away from each other. The ideological gap is widening every day. Donetsk residents are closely following what is happening in Kyiv and understand perfectly well that they are not on the same path with the electorate, who cast their votes for bloodsuckers like Andrei Biletsky, who heads the Azov punitive battalion. The people of Kiev are thirsty for blood. Donetsk residents want a peaceful sky above their heads.

Of course, the population of the newly formed republics is aware that on election day there can be any kind of provocation. Kyiv does not hesitate to use any methods to return the rebel Donbass under its control. The Ukrainian side is constantly violating the Minsk ceasefire agreement and it is quite possible that on November 02 there will be intensified artillery shelling on the territories of the young republics. Donetsk and Luhansk voters are mentally prepared for the worst and will certainly try to come to the polling stations on voting day despite all the obstacles put in place by the Ukrainian side. I would not be surprised if there are huge queues of people wanting to vote at the polling stations, as was the case during the referendum on May 11 this year. There shouldn't be any problems with attendance.

On November 02, Donetsk and Lugansk residents are obliged to make the right choice and not be mistaken in their sympathies. The results of the voting largely determine the course that the young republics will take next. It will be difficult and difficult, but the miners and metallurgists should not give up and miss. These elections came at the cost of a large number of human lives, and not going to the polling stations means betraying the memory of those who laid down their lives in the fight against Ukrainian fascism.

On November 02, Donetsk and Luhansk residents will go to the polls, remembering their fathers, brothers, friends, acquaintances and neighbors who fought and are fighting for the independence of their native land. Their choice will be fair in any case. You can rest assured that they will choose the most worthy. In hard times, any politician is in full view, and all his falsehood immediately catches the eye. The living will vote in such a way that the dead will not be ashamed. The choice of new republics is social justice and democracy!
