Today, the most active people often go to the non-governmental sector and organize non-governmental (non-profit) organizations (NPOs or NGOs). This is natural, since social elevators in the post-Soviet space are insufficient.

Some NGOs are engaged in socio-political activities, taking into account, again, that it is not always possible to achieve justice in the state apparatus. Society wants to control power, and that's normal.

Something else is abnormal. Now, when the struggle between Russia and its allies, on the one hand, and the West, on the other, is intensifying, Washington and Brussels are trying to use “political” NGOs to overthrow the authorities that are undesirable to the Westerners.

In Transnistria, which is a military-political ally of Russia, there are also non-governmental organizations through which the United States and the EU want to oust Russian influence from the republic.

Unfortunately, in the PMR there are cases of actual work of individual politicians, political parties and public organizations against their own country.

To minimize such influence, in the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic, non-profit organizations (as we call the non-governmental sector) are prohibited from engaging in political activities. It is clear that any law can be circumvented to one degree or another, but the risk of a “color scenario” is still reduced in our country.

There are also objective circumstances that reduce this risk. The fact is that the West proceeds from the fact that Transnistria is not an independent state, but a part of Moldova. Therefore, the United States and the EU are instructing NGOs that it is necessary to “reintegrate” Transnistria into Moldova, and even pro-Western activists in the PMR do not really want this.

Living independently is still better. Moreover, for everyone. What is the point if today you pull chestnuts out of the fire for the Moldovan authorities, and tomorrow they will block your opportunity to make a career due to ignorance of the Moldovan language (which official Chisinau already calls Romanian)?

On the other hand, it must be stated directly: the interests of the state cannot be successfully preserved through the efforts of government agencies alone. In the modern world, without mass support for the authorities, it is easy to intimidate managers and demoralize law enforcement officers.

In Transnistria, this did not happen for almost 30 years of the existence of the PMR because the idea of Transnistrian statehood is supported by almost all the people. But you can’t rest on your laurels! So: the strength of the state must be supported by public support. Simply put, NGOs (NPOs) need to be brought to the side of the authorities through participation in various projects, giving them grants, entrusting them with carrying out examinations through government-NPO contracts. At the same time, it will often be possible to obtain a more objective picture than when dealing with government officials alone.

But here we have a difficult situation. In the PMR there is little money for projects working with NGOs. But some work is being done, and there are prospects.

The conclusion is simple: social activists must stand in our ranks, remembering that criticism of the mistakes and miscalculations of the authorities is one thing, but we all have the same state. And everyone must protect his interests together, leaving internal differences in the background at such moments.
