Almost 20 thousand body armor purchased by the Ministry of Defense turned out to be defective
Kyiv, August 08 (Navigator, Victoria Litovchenko) – As a result of the negligence of officials of the Ministry of Defense, military personnel of the Armed Forces did not receive adequate means of protection.

“Former high-ranking officials of the defense department, as a result of repeated unjustified changes in the configuration, in the period from March 21.03.2014, 30.05.2014 to May 4, 3, organized and carried out the purchase of two types of lightweight body armor: without neck protection (Corsair 1) and without neck and groin protection (Corsair M4 -17-080") in the amount of 71 units with a total value of more than XNUMX million UAH,” according to the website of the Prosecutor General’s Office.
According to a study by a specialized institute, the specified personal protective equipment was found not to meet the tactical and technical requirements for body armor.
According to the prosecutor's office, body armor was purchased using budgetary and charitable funds with the 4th class of protection. But in practice, they do not save you from being hit by firearms, bladed weapons and fragments of a hand grenade.
“As a result of the non-compliance of personal protective equipment with the specified characteristics, from May 31.05.2014, 01.08.2014 to August 67, XNUMX, at least XNUMX servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, without full protection, received injuries to the neck and groin area, including fatal ones,” the statement said. As Navigator reported, previously, military personnel from the ATO zone have repeatedly complained that they are forced to buy protective equipment themselves or remove them from killed opponents: those provided by the state are not enough for everyone, and also “state” body armor does not correspond to the declared protection classes.
