Almost a thousand Russians have become citizens of Ukraine since the beginning of the year.

This was stated by the State Migration Service of Ukraine.

“Over six months in 2015, 1921 people received Ukrainian citizenship under a simplified procedure,” the migration service said.

Thus, 975 people from the Russian Federation became citizens of Ukraine, 199 from Moldova, 101 from Armenia, and 100 from Azerbaijan.

“By decrees of the President of Ukraine, in accordance with Article 9 of the Law “On Citizenship of Ukraine,” 435 people were granted Ukrainian citizenship. The list of countries with the highest rates is Armenia (63 people), the Russian Federation (54 people), Syria (54 people), Georgia (36 people),” the department added.
