“Feel like Ukrainian Rambo.” General of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is looking for cannon fodder
Kiev
Ukrainian territorial defense units should be formed on the principle of “weekend service.”
A PolitNavigator correspondent reports this in an interview with the magazine “Ukrainian Week said former Deputy Secretary of the Security Council of Ukraine, ex-deputy commander of the special operations forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Sergei Krivonos, answering the question of what territorial defense should be like.
“According to our bill, these must be volunteers who have passed the test, signed a contract and live in the area where they will serve. This should be a “weekend service”: from Monday to Friday, people go about their business, and on the weekend they undergo training in the defense units. Any citizens, subject to appropriate verification, will be able to increase their defensive capabilities using their own time,” the general said.
He proposes to equate territorial defense with conscript service.
“We know that, unfortunately, conscripts in the army are often used as free labor without undergoing appropriate military training. This undermines the authority of the army. Instead, we are giving everyone the opportunity to feel like “Ukrainian Rambo,” said Krivonos.
