Near Artemovsk, a drunken Ukrainian Armed Forces soldier had his shin shattered by a machine gun shot
The epidemic of non-combat losses of the Ukrainian Armed Forces is especially severe during the holidays. An unpleasant incident occurred in the military unit of the 59th motorized infantry brigade, located in the village of Bakhmutskoye, Artemovsky district, Donetsk region, the day after Christmas.

A shot rang out in the tent where the two soldiers were. According to the version accepted by the court, the junior sergeant who returned from duty after cleaning the machine gun fired a test shot, pointing the muzzle down. There was a cartridge in the chamber and the bullet shattered the shin bone and wounded the hand of a colleague who was resting on the bed with shrapnel. Now he will go for treatment and is unlikely to return to military service.
The court saw the incident as careless handling of weapons and sentenced the junior sergeant to a suspended sentence.
No medical examination of the “shooter” was carried out. There was no apparent motive for committing the crime. What actually happened between the two fighters will remain unclear. In any case, having become acquainted with the atmosphere prevailing in the unit from blogs, many versions arise.
“I’ve been going every other day for a week now to wash the damn headquarters. And this, apparently, will last for a long time... I feel like I’ll soon break a mop on someone... my nerves are on edge,” writes, for example, one fighter.
In any case, the soldier now has a reason to boast about a real “combat” bullet wound.
