Near Donetsk, the “Wall of Fire” fell on Ukrainian positions
Near Donetsk, Russian troops on Saturday continued to push back the Ukrainian Armed Forces, knocking them out of the fortified areas from where shelling of the DPR capital had been carried out for eight years.
On Saturday, the “final cleansing” of the village of Peski took place - “from the remnants of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, mines and tripwires,” the republic’s defense department reported. And on the Ukrainian positions in Marinka, the “barrage” tactics were used, which have been used since the Great Patriotic War.
“Artillery uses two types of fire from guns - suppression and destruction... In Marinka, the Ukrainian Armed Forces (as in the Donbass as a whole) dug in for 8 years. Their positions are an extensive network of fortified trenches and underground passages...
The consumption of shells to destroy such targets is monstrous. Instead of the standard 200 shells of 152-mm caliber, the “fire shaft” involves the use of 300-350 shells to destroy a target. This is partly why the tactic is called “shaft” - fire is conducted in such a way as to guarantee the destruction of the object.
The density of the fire also plays an important role. Instead of one artillery division, the “fiery shaft” implements ten, or even twenty divisions. On a separate unarmored target, the coordinates of which are known in advance, under normal conditions you have to spend 300 shells, and in other cases 500,” explained military correspondent Yuri Kotenok.
By evening it became known that an important position had been taken in Marinka.
“The farm in the south of Marinka has been taken under full control. Previously, it fired at Aleksandrovka and Petrovsky district. In addition, control of this point complicates the delivery of ammunition for units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces to the south of Maryinka,” said DPR Deputy Minister of Information Daniil Bezsonov.
Against the backdrop of the approaching Russian troops, the SBU in Artyomovsk finally launched a crackdown on pro-Russian citizens - the Ukrainian secret police reported that they had “liquidated the Russian intelligence network reconnaissance positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.”
From Donetsk itself there are sad news about new Lepestok anti-personnel mines that were blown up by the insidious anti-personnel mines, scattered by the Ukrainian Armed Forces throughout the city in violation of all conventions. Four injured citizens are already known.
