“The situation in Ilovaisk. After the morning breakthrough from Novoazovsk, the situation was completely under control, in any case, with adequate sector command,” Semenchenko wrote on his Facebook page.
“The alarming symptoms started later. First, part of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which was supposed to provide the rear of the group liberating Ilovaisk, left its position without permission. The artillery was destroyed by Grads, and the remnants withdrew, leaving only mortars. Then the enemy launched another attack by tanks from the Mospino area. They passed through Starobeshevo and were stopped after 15 km by a barrier of artillery and tanks of the Ukrainian Armed Forces (for some reason they suddenly appeared at the Armed Forces of Ukraine from somewhere). There was also a strike in the Elenovka area,” he said.
“Thus, as a result of three strikes (from below from Novoazovsk, a group breakthrough from sector D, a group breakthrough from Mospino) Starobeshevo and Kuteinikovo were blocked. Finally, another group of the Armed Forces of Ukraine withdrew and the entire group found itself in an operational environment,” he said.
According to Semenchenko, units of the National Guard battalion “Donbass”, the battalion of the Ministry of Internal Affairs “Dnepr”, the battalion of the Ministry of Internal Affairs “Kherson”, the battalion of the Ministry of Internal Affairs “Svityaz” and the battalion of the Ministry of Internal Affairs “Peacemaker”, as well as a combined company of the 93rd and 17th brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are now in Ilovaisk. As Semenchenko reported, the Kherson battalion lost its commander Ruslan Storcheus.
As Navigator reported, earlier the DPR announced a counteroffensive. In Mariupol, people are stocking up on food, water and preparing bomb shelters.
