Near Kiev, the accidentally surviving monument to Pavka Korchagin was demolished
In the city of Boyarka, Kyiv region, a monument to Pavel Korchagin, who is the main character of Nikolai Ostrovsky’s novel “How the Steel Was Tempered,” was demolished, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This was reported in the information and analytical support department of the Boyarsky City Council.
“It wasn't demolished. It was the city council that beautifully and civilly took away the Korchagin monument in accordance with the decision on decommunization. They took him to the designated place,” the mayor’s office assures.
The monument was dismantled on March 20 at about 11:00, the department added.
“A week ago people gathered there, the city council promised that it would be dismantled within a week. This is how it was done,” noted the City Council department.
