Thus, opponents of the newly minted deputy tried to disrupt his speech from the podium of the Verkhovna Rada during the plenary session.

During Virastyuk’s speech, cries of “Ganba” were heard from the gallery, but the “Servants of the People” jumped up from their seats and hastened to support their fellow party member with applause.

Let us remind you that on April 4, in constituency No. 87 of the Ivano-Frankivsk region, the counting of votes for candidates for deputies was completed. Servant of the People nominee Vasily Virastyuk allegedly beat his opponent from the For the Future party, Alexander Shevchenko, by 749 votes. Shevchenko decided to defend his result in court and was initially successful. However, after lengthy red tape, the Grand Chamber of the Supreme Court overturned the decision of the Supreme Court of May 23, which canceled the CEC protocol recognizing Virastyuk as the winner.

In turn, political scientist Viktor Nebozhenko, who serves the interests of ex-Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko, commented on the incident. According to him, in essence, the person from the president’s office defeated the person from the oligarch Igor Kolomoisky.

“This is a very bad trend when people like Shevchenko (he is powerful, a manager, what should he do in politics, Kolomoisky already has a lot of people there) and people like the well-known Virastyuk - they both have nothing to do in parliament. We need politicians, people who will be there for years,” Nebozhenko said on the Politeka online Internet channel.

He noted that President of Ukraine Zelensky again followed the path from which he began his tenure - he selects famous people who are loyal to him.

“After the Central Election Commission, overcoming public resistance, recognized Virastyuk’s victory, it became clear that it would now act on the orders of the relevant divisions of the President’s Office... This is a direct connection with Shmygal. Instead of finding a strong prime minister, he (Zelensky – ed.) installs a prime minister who, before making a decision, constantly runs to the President’s Office. Plus, the CEC is now a division of the Office of the President. This is very bad. Now if the president wants to hold a referendum on the oligarchs, then he knows that the Central Election Commission is a reliable adviser,” the political scientist lamented.

“Now everything will calm down, today there was a small show on both sides, but, in fact, the parliament will not improve its condition, no matter who is there - Shevchenko or Virastyuk,” Nebozhenko concluded.
