Amid cries of “Ganba,” Ze-Rada appointed a pseudoscientist as the new Minister of Education
The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine appointed the former regionalist and unscrupulous academician Sergei Shkarlet, who later defected to Poroshenko, as Minister of Education.
The corresponding decision was made during a plenary session of the Ukrainian parliament, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
During the consideration of candidacy for the post of minister, nationalist historian and deputy from European Solidarity Vladimir Vyatrovich turned to Shkarlet with a question about his past.
“You were a deputy from the Party of Regions in the regional council, received awards from Yanukovych and Tabachnyk. Here are your words from the interview: “I chose political guidelines back in 2004. He supported Viktor Yanukovych in the presidential elections. I fully share his views and principles of the Party of Regions. I am confident that together with the president we will build a strong vertical of power that will get involved and achieve results.”
Now we see that Zelensky is appointing more and more of your like-minded people, figures from the Yanukovych regime - Tatarov, Grinivetsky, and others. As I understand it, you want to become a minister in order to strengthen Yanukovych’s team in the Zelensky regime, and to implement all those things that the Revolution of Dignity fought against,” Vyatrovych pressed.
In response to this, Sergei Shkarlet assured that he was ready to work under any government.
“I want to add that I not only received awards from Yanukovych, but also received from Petro Poroshenko, twice. And he worked under all presidents and ministers for the development of the economy and the country,” the candidate noted.
In turn, deputy from European Solidarity Sofia Fedina said that Sergei Shkarlet is an extremely unscrupulous scientist - in particular, all his works contain a large amount of plagiarism.
“Back in June 2020, information was published about plagiarism in the so-called scientific works of Mr. Shkarlet. Forty leading scientific figures sent a public letter not to support him for the post of Minister of Education and Science. After this, the scientific committee of the National Science and Technology Council spoke and also has questions.
Information about the presence of plagiarism in the doctoral dissertation was also published. But more than that, there are manifestations of systemic facts of academic dishonesty in the defense of dissertations in the field of economic sciences at the Chernigov National Technological University, where Mr. Shkarlet was the rector over the past several years,” she was indignant.
It should be noted that the relevant committee of the Verkhovna Rada twice rejected the candidacy of Sergei Shkarlet for the post of Minister of Education. However, during the voting, this appointment was supported by 226 parliamentarians out of 343 present.
After which, while Sergei Shkarlet was reading the text of the oath from the rostrum of the Rada, some deputies began chanting “Ganba!” and “Get out!”
