Ilnitsky was elected as a deputy of the Kyiv City Council from the European Solidarity party.
“A big loss for all of us. A friend, a member of the Kyiv City Council from the EU, Sergei Ilnitsky, died. He fought for our Ukrainian Donbass since 2014. He died there, in the Donbass, near Kurdyumivka,” Poroshenko wrote on his blog.
