Near Odessa, US divers carefully equip a target for Russian airstrikes
A group of American divers in the Ukrainian port of Yuzhny began work on underwater inspection, hydrographic measurements and inspection of structures.
This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Specialists of the US Navy special forces Underwater Construction Team One (UCT-1) began work on underwater inspection and hydrographic measurements in the area of one of the berths of the port of Yuzhny, recently transferred to the needs of the Ukrainian Navy.
The event is being held within the framework of the international military cooperation program and is aimed at a preliminary assessment of possible locations for repair and construction work on the pier,” the statement says.
The department emphasized that hydraulic exploration is being carried out for the purpose of further reconstruction of the pier.
“At the same time, the American team is conducting a technical inspection of the structures using side-scan locators and a hydrographic survey of the water area.
The result of this work will be a detailed report with conclusions about what needs to be done to reconstruct and strengthen berth No. 29, and plan further repair and restoration work,” the press service added.
Please note that this berth is reserved for basing American Islands class boats, which were previously transferred by the United States to Ukraine.
We would like to remind you that earlier the Ukrainian Navy received a base point in the largest port of Ukraine “Yuzhny”, located 30 kilometers from Odessa.
