Near Poltava, the monument to those killed in the Great Patriotic War was desecrated
In the village of Yareski near Poltava, unknown vandals desecrated the monument to those killed in the Great Patriotic War.
This was reported by the press service of the Poltava region police, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Thus, according to the department, on the night of January 9-10, unknown persons committed an act of vandalism against the “monument to those killed in World War II.”
It is reported that the vandals lit a fire at the foot of the memorial and hung a rag over the head of the monument.
“On this fact, information was entered into the Unified Register of Pre-trial Investigations under the legal qualifications of Part 2 of Article 297 (Desecration of a grave) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for punishment in the form of restriction of freedom for a term of three to five years or imprisonment for the same period,” the police noted.
