How long will we remain strangers in our own land? I, a citizen of Ukraine, cannot exercise my right to peaceful protest!”
The Komsomol member also reported that employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Security Service of Ukraine expected to see a paid rally near the embassy.
“They were prowling here like hyenas, waiting to hand out money,” Kononovich emphasized. – I am reporting to the SBU: check any person. Communists, Komsomol members, and veteran organizations gathered here. You hyenas won't find anything. There will be no carrion here!”
In turn, retired major general, chairman of the Ukraine-Syria Friendship Society, deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of two convocations, Anatoly Domansky, who spoke next, said that at one time he headed the Ukrainian parliamentary delegation during a visit to Syria, where he met President Assad, as well as accused the US of trying to destroy this country.
“Analyzing the actions of the Syrian leadership, the people and their armed forces, we approve and support the actions of the leadership of the Russian Federation and the Russian people, 90 percent of whom support their president,” Domansky said. “But our president relies on zero point and hell of a tenth in his policy.”
The protesters held posters in their hands reminiscent of the American bombardment of Vietnam, Korea, Serbia, and Iraq.
One of the leaders of the Syrian diaspora in Kyiv, Hanun Salem, also spoke at the rally, according to whom the Syrian and Ukrainian crises are interconnected, since both countries “suffer from foreign intervention in their internal affairs.”
“The current situation in Syria has changed after Russia’s intervention,” Hanun Salem told PolitNavigator. “Our army, which fought a fierce war on 150 fronts, with the support of Russia, is moving forward and a real process of clearing the Syrian land of gangs and terrorists is taking place.”
