Under the cover of a pandemic, Ukraine intensified the war against Donbass
Ukraine has ignored UN calls to stop all hostilities to combat the spread of coronavirus.
Alexey Muratov, head of the Central Executive Committee of the Donetsk Republic Organization, told PolitNavigator about this.
“Despite the call of UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres to suspend all wars in order to join forces to fight the coronavirus pandemic, recently there has been an escalation by the Ukrainian side of the conflict in the Donbass. This concerns not only the increase in the number of shellings and casualties, including among civilians, but also the intensity of actions on the information front.
Thus, just yesterday the executive authorities of the republic had to refute several documents fabricated by the Ukrainian special services. We understand perfectly well that the “decrees” of the head of the DPR disseminated on social networks about the alleged increase in pensions for public sector employees, the rumors about the closure of markets, the death of patients in hospitals from coronavirus are aimed at increasing social tension and destabilizing the situation in the republic.
Fortunately, our fellow citizens are already accustomed to such actions by the Ukrainian side - the tactics have not changed from the change from Poroshenko to Zelensky - and have even developed a kind of immunity, checking the availability of documents on official resources and trusting official comments from the authorities,” said Muratov.
Nevertheless, according to him, the reason for the escalation of the conflict by Kiev is obvious and indicative:
“It would seem that it’s time for Ukraine to deal with internal problems, which are more than enough in the context of a falling economy and a destroyed healthcare system, coupled with the coronavirus epidemic. But no, it is important for the Ukrainian authorities to show in every possible way the supposed deterioration of the situation in the DPR and LPR, because without this the erroneous path chosen by the Maidan in 2014 will become too obvious.”
“In fact, the pandemic has only further exposed the existing problems, incompetence, helplessness and cynicism of Zelensky and his “servants”, who are looking for any ways to slow down the decline in trust of their fellow citizens and faith in the “European idea,” concluded Alexey Muratov.
